February ‘Photo-a-Day’ Challenge – 27

Fuji Finepix F30
Fully Auto

Conisbrough Castle

Just a quick snap – we decided to stop at Conisbrough for an hour on the way to Sheffield yesterday – after lunch we only had a short while to look round the castle, but I took a couple of snapshots.

Photo #28 never got taken yesterday as I decided not to take my camera to the concert (fears of a) damage and b) didn’t expect to be anywhere near enough for pics). In the end I should have as I was only 2 rows from the front, right over to the left, and could have got some great shots.

As I’m sure you’re all realising by now, I have a new found love for my macro lens. I first got it a couple of years ago, and when I first used it it seemed temperamental and I couldn’t get on with it. Now I’ve retrieved it and (metaphorically) blown the dust off, I absolutely *love* it. As well as letting me into the amazing world of macro photography, it also works very well as a fixed ‘prime’ style lens for everyday use.

Darkened ever so slightly.

A new addition to the house – my baby venus fly trap plant. I’m developing a real love of ‘unusual’ houseplants (like aloes, cactus, venus fly traps.. I want a Bonsai tree so much!).

* taken, but not posted on, 23/02/09.

Not happy with this one, it’s not as sharp as it should be, but I can’t be bothered to retake!

February ‘Photo-a-Day’ Challenge – 20

20

Details:
Olympus E300 + 35mm f3.5 Macro Lens
Aperture Priority – f7
Photoshop: Absolutely nothing.

A snap that came out better than expected. I started some embroidery tonight and took this when I ran out of black thread. Lit in a very non-scientific manner – the halogen heater we have in the living room. It casts a really nice warm light perfect for this kind of subject.
